Libya: Médecins Sans Frontières evacuates from Zintan, under heavy bombardment for days
The medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières has now evacuated their personnel from Zintan, a city in western Libya, as a result of repeated bombing
Rome / Geneva - "In recent days, the center of the city was bombarded every afternoon, with rockets that have fallen to only 100-200 meters from the hospital," said Morten Rostrup, medical intensive care unit of Doctors Without Borders. Fortunately there were no serious injuries.
MSF has worked continuously from March to Zintan. The team of five people, including a war surgeon, a doctor and two nurses, intensive care, has supported the hospital in Zintan during the last four weeks, managing the influx of casualties caused by fighting between the forces of pro -Gaddafi and insurgents in the region of the mountains Nafusa.
40 years of Greenpeace
Today we celebrate 40 years of campaigning, commitment and victories. But when we are born with that action game September 15, 1971, it spun smoothly. Our founders Phyllis Cormack sailed on the vessel at a time of Amchitka, in the North Pacific to protest against an impending U.S. underground nuclear test. After days of sailing, including internal discussions and rough seas, they lost the compass ... and were intercepted and stopped by the Coast Guard. Failed to stop the test and the bomb exploded on November 6. But it was the last: the heroic attempt of that small group of activists who founded Greenpeace, conquered the front pages of American newspapers, and from then on Amchitka was never used for nuclear testing.
